Medical Report for Travel Insurance or a Missed Trip

A video assessment and a medical report of what was found, for a trip you had to cancel or miss. It is a report, not a guaranteed certificate of illness.

If you have to cancel, cut short or miss a trip because you are unwell, your travel insurer will usually ask for medical evidence. That is normally a medical report: what the doctor found, on what date, and what he advised.

Dr. Pedro Yelamo Vera, a GP licensed in Spain (No. 484814280), can assess you by video and write that report. It describes what he assessed during the call, for example that he advised you not to travel. Your insurer decides whether it pays the claim.

Book while you are unwell. A report can only describe what the doctor assessed on the day of the call. It cannot confirm an illness on an earlier date that he did not see.

Who it is for

  • Travellers in Spain who are too unwell to take a planned flight, cruise or trip
  • People who missed a flight or had to come home early because of illness
  • Anyone whose insurer asks for a doctor's report of a recent illness

What the doctor checks on video

  • Your symptoms, when they started and how they affect you now
  • Your health history and the medicines you take
  • Whether travel is advisable now, and what to do next
  • The insurer's form or questions, and which ones a video assessment can answer

What to have ready for the call

  • Your passport, DNI or NIE
  • Your booking details and travel dates
  • The insurer's claim form or medical form, if it has one
  • Previous reports, test results and receipts for medicines

When it cannot be issued online

  • An illness on a past date that the doctor did not assess
  • Claims that need proof from a hands-on exam, scans or tests
  • Insurers that require their own doctor or medical team
  • A medical emergency while travelling: call 112, then your insurer's assistance line
  • Medical certificates for a driving licence or a firearms licence. In Spain only authorised driver and firearms assessment centres (Centros de Reconocimiento de Conductores, CRC) can issue them.
  • Sick leave from work (baja médica, incapacidad temporal). It belongs to the public system: your public health service doctor issues it, or the mutua after a work accident. A private doctor cannot issue it.
  • Anything that needs a physical exam, tests or a visit to an in-person centre. The doctor tells you where to go instead.

Price

  • €50 for a 15-minute video consultation (Urgent Care). If a certificate is issued, it is part of that consultation, with no extra charge.
  • You pay online when you book. An itemised invoice is included.
  • The fee is for the medical consultation. A certificate is issued only if the assessment supports it.

How you receive it

  • If the assessment supports it, the signed certificate is sent to you by email after the consultation.
  • It states what was assessed and on what date. It can be in English or Spanish.
  • Whether it is accepted depends on the institution that asks for it. Check its rules before you book.

Cancellation and refunds

  • Free cancellation up to 24 hours before your appointment, with a refund.
  • If you cancel later, or do not attend, the fee is kept.
  • You must be physically in Spain at the start of the call. If you are not, the consultation does not go ahead and you get a full refund.

Frequently asked questions

Will my insurer accept a report after a video call?

Many insurers accept a report from a licensed doctor, but the decision is theirs. Check your policy or ask the insurer before you book.

Can you write a report for an illness I had last week?

No. A report can only describe what the doctor assessed during the call. If you were seen by another doctor at the time, ask that service for its report.

Can you fill in my insurer's medical form?

Yes, for the parts the video assessment supports. Parts that need tests or an exam are left blank and the doctor explains why.

Do I get an invoice too?

Yes. Every consultation includes an itemised invoice you can send to your insurer with the report.

This service is for urgent, non-emergency care. In a medical emergency call 112 or go to the nearest emergency department.
