Medical Certificate for Starting a Job
A video assessment for the general health certificate a new employer, agency or host family asks for. It is not the company's occupational health exam.
- GP licensed in Spain · No. 484814280
- Secure video consultation
- Itemised invoice included
Some employers, agencies, host families and volunteer programmes ask for a medical certificate before you start. It usually confirms general good health, or that no reason was found to stop you doing a stated type of work.
Dr. Pedro Yelamo Vera, a GP licensed in Spain (No. 484814280), can assess this by video. He reviews your health history and the job's demands, and signs a certificate when the assessment supports it.
Who it is for
- People starting a job or an internship whose employer asks for a general health certificate
- Au pairs and host-family placements
- Volunteers joining a programme that asks for a medical certificate
- Self-employed people asked for a health certificate by a client or agency
What the doctor checks on video
- Your health history, current conditions and treatment
- The tasks of the job: physical work, shifts, travel, contact with children or food
- Current symptoms and any recent infectious illness
- The wording the employer, agency or programme asks for
What to have ready for the call
- Your passport, DNI or NIE
- The employer's or agency's form, or its written request
- A short description of the job and its tasks
- Previous reports and a list of the medicines you take
When it cannot be issued online
- The company's occupational health exam (reconocimiento médico laboral), which its prevention service carries out
- Jobs with their own medical standards and authorised examiners, such as pilots, seafarers or professional drivers
- A return-to-work decision after sick leave, which belongs to the public system or the company's occupational health service
- Forms that ask for blood tests, an X-ray, a hearing or eye test, or a hands-on exam
- Medical certificates for a driving licence or a firearms licence. In Spain only authorised driver and firearms assessment centres (Centros de Reconocimiento de Conductores, CRC) can issue them.
- Sick leave from work (baja médica, incapacidad temporal). It belongs to the public system: your public health service doctor issues it, or the mutua after a work accident. A private doctor cannot issue it.
- Anything that needs a physical exam, tests or a visit to an in-person centre. The doctor tells you where to go instead.
Price
- €50 for a 15-minute video consultation (Urgent Care). If a certificate is issued, it is part of that consultation, with no extra charge.
- You pay online when you book. An itemised invoice is included.
- The fee is for the medical consultation. A certificate is issued only if the assessment supports it.
How you receive it
- If the assessment supports it, the signed certificate is sent to you by email after the consultation.
- It states what was assessed and on what date. It can be in English or Spanish.
- Whether it is accepted depends on the institution that asks for it. Check its rules before you book.
Cancellation and refunds
- Free cancellation up to 24 hours before your appointment, with a refund.
- If you cancel later, or do not attend, the fee is kept.
- You must be physically in Spain at the start of the call. If you are not, the consultation does not go ahead and you get a full refund.
Frequently asked questions
My employer wants a reconocimiento médico. Can you do it?
No. That exam belongs to the company's occupational health service and the employer arranges it. A private GP certificate does not replace it. Ask your employer which service to contact.
Can you give me a sick note or a baja for work?
Sick leave (baja médica) belongs to the public system: your public health service doctor issues it, or the mutua after a work accident. A private doctor cannot issue it. The doctor can write a medical report of what he assessed, but it does not replace a baja.
What does the certificate say?
Your name and ID, the date, what was assessed and its result, with the doctor's name, licence number and signature. It does not state more than the assessment supports.
Will my employer accept it?
That is the employer's decision. Ask what format they need before you book, and bring their form or wording to the call.
This service is for urgent, non-emergency care. In a medical emergency call 112 or go to the nearest emergency department.
