Running out of medicine far from your home country is stressful. So is losing it mid-trip. After a proper video assessment, I can issue a private electronic prescription under Spanish law, if it is clinically indicated. You can use it at pharmacies in Spain.
This is a real medical consultation, not an automatic prescription service. A prescription is never guaranteed. I only issue one when my assessment supports it. I never prescribe controlled medicines online, such as opioid painkillers, sleeping pills, benzodiazepines or stimulants. You always leave with a clear explanation of what is and is not appropriate.

All medical consultations are conducted directly and privately by Dr. Pedro Yelamo Vera, a fully licensed General Practitioner registered in Spain (Medical Licence No. 484814280, Official College of Physicians of Bizkaia). Clinical practice adheres strictly to Spanish Medical Deontology, Law 41/2002 on Patient Autonomy, and applicable Spanish healthcare regulations.
Medication Dispensing in Spanish Pharmacies
When clinically justified following medical evaluation, a private electronic prescription under Spanish law (receta electrónica privada) is issued with a secure verification code (CSV/QR), for dispensing at pharmacies in Spain.
Medical Documentation & International Insurance Claims
After your appointment, you receive a digitally signed medical report and an official itemized invoice detailing the physician's license number, clinical summary, and tax registration. This documentation is accepted by private medical insurers and international travel insurance providers (such as Bupa, Allianz, Cigna, AXA, or US travel medical cover) for claim reimbursement.

Frequently asked questions
Is a prescription guaranteed?
No. This is a medical consultation, and I only issue a prescription when my assessment supports it. I never prescribe controlled medicines online. Some other medicines also need in-person care. I will tell you honestly if that applies to you.
Where is the e-prescription valid?
A private electronic prescription issued under Spanish law can be dispensed at pharmacies in Spain, subject to local pharmacy rules. The public health system does not fund medicines on a private prescription, so you pay the pharmacy price. The consultation fee does not include the cost of your medicine.
Can I use a prescription from Spain in another EU country?
My prescriptions are issued for dispensing in Spain. I cannot say whether a pharmacy in another country will accept one, so ask that pharmacy before you travel, or collect your medicines in Spain before you leave.
Are there medicines a pharmacy abroad may not dispense?
Yes. Some prescription medicines are not sold in every EU country, or have a different name there. The EU recognition rule also does not cover medicines that need a special prescription, such as narcotic medicines. Before you travel, check that your medicine is available where you are going.
What must a cross-border prescription include?
There is no set EU form, but EU rules (Commission Implementing Directive 2012/52/EU) list the details a pharmacy abroad needs. About you: full name and date of birth. About the prescription: date of issue. About the prescribing doctor: full name, professional qualification, signature, direct contact details and work address, including the country. About the medicine: common name (not the brand), form (such as tablet), quantity, strength and how to take it.
Can a pharmacy abroad read my Spanish e-prescription?
Not always. MyHealth@EU is the EU service that sends e-prescriptions to pharmacies in other EU countries. Spain's Ministry of Health describes it for prescriptions from the public health system (SNS), and only for some regions and countries. Do not count on a pharmacy abroad reading a private Spanish e-prescription. Ask me for a printed or PDF copy. Acceptance depends on the pharmacy and on local rules.
Can you refill my long-term medicine?
In many cases, yes, for stable and well-established treatments. First I review your history and your current situation. If your condition needs ongoing care, I will also explain a follow-up plan.
Can I get an antibiotic prescription online in Spain?
Only if you need one. After a full video consultation, a doctor licensed in Spain can issue a private electronic prescription (receta médica) if it is clinically indicated. Pharmacies in Spain can dispense it. If you do not need an antibiotic, I will explain why and what else can help.
What should I have ready for a refill?
Have the medicine box or leaflet, or a clear photo of it. Bring your last prescription or a letter from the doctor who usually prescribes it. Also have a list of your other medicines and any allergies, and an ID document.
Can you prescribe the same brand I use at home?
Pharmacies in Spain dispense medicines authorised in Spain. Your brand may have a different name here, or may not be sold here. In that case I check whether a Spanish medicine with the same active ingredient suits you.

Payment and cancellation
- You pay when you book. Prices are in euros and include applicable taxes.
- The fee covers the consultation only, not medicines, lab tests or scans.
- Cancel or change your appointment free of charge up to 24 hours before it starts.
- If you cancel less than 24 hours before, or do not attend, the fee is kept.
- If Dr. Yelamo cancels, or the video call fails because of a problem on his side, you get a full refund.
