Algidol is a sachet that combines paracetamol, codeine and vitamin C.
- What it is used for: moderate pain, with or without fever, when paracetamol alone is not enough.
- Its equivalent at home: it is closest to a low-strength paracetamol and codeine combination such as co-codamol.
- Precautions: it causes drowsiness and constipation, so do not drive if affected and avoid alcohol. Do not take other products containing paracetamol at the same time. Codeine is for short courses only.
- Check first if: you have asthma or breathing problems, liver disease, or are pregnant or breastfeeding. It is not for children under 12.
- Do you need a prescription? Yes.
