Enantyum is dexketoprofen, an anti-inflammatory painkiller (NSAID) that Spanish doctors prescribe very often.
- What it is used for: short-term relief of mild to moderate pain such as muscle and joint pain, toothache and period pain.
- Its equivalent at home: it belongs to the same family as ibuprofen and naproxen. It is sold as Keral in the UK and Ireland and is not marketed in the US.
- Check first if: you have had a stomach ulcer or bleeding, have kidney or heart disease, take blood thinners, are pregnant, or have had asthma or an allergy with other anti-inflammatories. Do not combine it with ibuprofen or naproxen.
- Do you need a prescription? Yes. Take it as prescribed and for as few days as possible.
- See a doctor if: pain lasts more than a few days, or you have severe stomach pain, black stools, swollen legs or a rash.
This is general information and does not replace the package leaflet or the advice of your doctor or pharmacist. If you need an assessment, you can book a video consultation or read about back pain. This service is for urgent, non-emergency care; in an emergency, call 112.
