- What it is used for: cystitis in women with no other risk factors.
- How to take it: dissolved in water on an empty stomach, ideally at bedtime after passing urine, as directed on your prescription.
- What to expect: symptoms can take two or three days to settle. Diarrhoea is a common side effect.
- When it is not enough: urinary infections in men, in pregnancy, or with fever and back pain need a medical assessment.
- Do you need a prescription? Yes. Antibiotics are not sold over the counter in Spain.
