Paying and claiming

Using your travel or private health insurance

Every visit with Dr. Pedro Yelamo Vera is private. You pay online when you book, and after the visit you get an itemised invoice and a medical report. Many private and travel policies pay back the cost of an outpatient GP visit, but that depends on your policy. Check with your insurer before you book.

  • Itemised invoice included
  • No subscription

How it works, step by step

  1. 1. Check your policy

Before you book, ask your insurer whether your policy covers a private outpatient GP visit by video in Spain, and what they need from you to claim.

  2. 2. Pay online when you book

You pay the visit fee online at the time of booking. There is no direct billing: I do not send the bill to your insurer, and I cannot take payment from them.

  3. 3. Have your video visit

We talk by secure video on the day you chose. The visit is for urgent, non-emergency care. In an emergency, call 112.

  4. 4. Get your documents

After the visit you receive an itemised invoice and a medical report by email.

  5. 5. Send your claim

You send the documents to your insurer yourself. Your insurer decides whether to pay you back, and how much.

What you pay

  • Urgent Care: €50, 15 minutes.
  • Weight Optimization: €70, 30 minutes.

There is no subscription. Medicines are paid for at the pharmacy, at the price the pharmacy charges, and are not part of the visit fee. Lab tests and other services are not included either.

What the documents show

Itemised invoice

  • Dr. Pedro Yelamo Vera's name and Spanish medical licence number (484814280)
  • His tax ID (NIF)
  • The date of the visit and the service you had
  • The amount you paid

Medical report

  • The reason for the visit and what was found
  • The plan agreed with you, and any prescription that was issued
  • Advice on follow-up or on where to go if you need in-person care

What to send your insurer

Each insurer has its own claim form and rules. Most ask for some or all of these:

  • Their claim form, filled in and signed
  • The itemised invoice from the visit
  • The medical report, if they ask for the reason for the visit
  • Proof of payment, such as your card statement
  • Pharmacy receipts, if your policy also covers medicines

Keep a copy of everything you send. If your insurer asks for something the documents do not show, write to me and I will tell you what I can provide.

Questions to ask your insurer before you book

  • Does my policy cover a private GP visit outside a hospital?
  • Does it cover a video visit, and a visit in Spain?
  • Is there an excess, a limit per visit or a yearly limit?
  • Do I need approval before the visit?
  • Which documents do you need, and by when?
  • Are prescribed medicines covered too?

What does not apply

No direct billing

I do not bill insurers directly and I am not part of any insurer's network. You pay first and claim yourself.

EHIC, GHIC and Spanish health card (TSE)

These cards give access to public health care. They do not cover a private visit like this one, so they cannot be used to pay for it.

No promise of a refund

Whether you get money back depends only on your policy and your insurer. I cannot confirm cover for you.
