Dr. Pedro Yelamo Vera

Licence No. 484814280 · Bizkaia Medical College

After moving to Spain, a doctor in Spain needs to take over your regular prescriptions. US prescriptions are not valid in Spanish pharmacies, and UK ones are accepted only at the pharmacist's discretion. Dr. Pedro Yelamo Vera, a GP licensed in Spain (No. 484814280), can review your medicines by video and, if clinically appropriate, issue a Spanish e-prescription until you are registered with a public GP.

What the medication review covers

Your regular medicines, reviewed

Bring your current prescriptions, recent test results and doctor's letters. The doctor checks that each treatment is right for you and safe to continue.

Spanish names and equivalents

Many medicines have a different name or strength in Spain, and some are not sold here. You are told the Spanish equivalent with the same active ingredient where one exists.

A bridge until your public GP

A private e-prescription, only if clinically appropriate, to cover the months until the public health system registers you. Private prescriptions are paid in full at the pharmacy.

Clear limits

Some medicines need an exam, blood tests, specialist approval or in-person care first. Controlled medicines, such as strong painkillers, sleeping pills and stimulants, are not prescribed online.

Healthcare & Doctor Consultations in Spain

Private Medical Consultations in English with Zero Language Barriers

Direct Care with Dr. Pedro Yelamo Vera (Colegiado No. 484814280)

Getting medical care in Spain as a tourist, digital nomad or expat can be hard. Language gaps at the public urgencias, new pharmacy rules and clinic sign-up forms can all slow you down when you need care soon.

Dr. Pedro Yelamo Vera offers caring, bilingual GP care by secure HD video. You can join from your phone or laptop, wherever you are in Spain. There is no need to travel to a clinic.

Official Spanish E-Prescriptions & Insurance Invoices

Prescriptions are issued only where clinically appropriate, following a genuine evaluation. Dispensing depends on local rules, medicine availability and pharmacy requirements; acceptance of an electronic code in another country is not guaranteed.

You receive a medical report and an itemized invoice to submit to your insurer. Check your policy before booking: reimbursement is decided by your insurer and is not guaranteed.

Evidence-Based Medical Practice (EBM)

Every consultation follows evidence-based clinical protocols. Before any treatment advice, the doctor checks your medical history, the medicines you take and any reason a treatment may not suit you.

When to Seek Emergency In-Person Care

These consultations are for urgent, non-emergency care. For severe red-flag symptoms (severe chest pressure, sudden neurological deficit, severe shortness of breath), go straight to the nearest hospital emergency department or call 112 in Spain.

Prescriptions after moving to Spain: common questions

Can a UK prescription be used in Spain?
Sometimes. A Spanish pharmacist may accept it at their discretion, but it is not guaranteed. Once you live in Spain, a doctor in Spain should take over your regular prescriptions.
Can I use my US prescription in Spain?
No. Prescriptions from outside the EU are not valid at Spanish pharmacies. You need a prescription from a doctor licensed in Spain.
What should I bring to the appointment?
Your current prescriptions or medicine packs, the dose you take, recent blood tests and letters from your previous doctor. The more information you have, the more the doctor can safely do by video.
Will every medicine be continued online?
No. A prescription is issued only where clinically appropriate, following a genuine evaluation. Some medicines need tests or specialist care first, and controlled medicines are not prescribed online.
What if I am about to run out of a vital medicine?
If you are running out of a medicine for diabetes, epilepsy, blood thinning or another essential treatment, book as early as you can. If you feel unwell or have stopped a medicine suddenly, go to a hospital emergency department or call 112.
How much does it cost?
€50 for a 15-minute video consultation, paid when you book. It includes the review, a medical report and an itemised invoice. Medicines are paid separately at the pharmacy.
